Deep Retrofit Rebate — Durham
Incentives available for deep energy retrofits
Durham residents may receive an incentive for reducing their Energy Use (Gigajoules/year) by at least 50 percent between pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations.
Energy use reduction
$2,500 - $5,000 for achieving 50% or greater energy use reductions between modelled results from pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations.
Incentives increase by $50 for every 1% of energy use reduced over 50 percent.
Whitby residents can combine the Durham Deep Retrofit Rebate with the Town of Whitby's Deep Retrofit Rebate and double their incentive amount.

Terms and conditions
- The Deep Retrofit Rebate is stackable with all third party rebate programs, but is not stackable with our Heat Pump Rebate program.
- Minimum project costs must be at least $30,000 before taxes.
- Only projects completed after enrollment in the Deep Retrofit Rebate will be considered for meeting the minimum project cost.
- Pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations are only eligible if completed on or after April 28, 2022.
- Post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations are only eligible if completed after enrollment in the Deep Retrofit Rebate.
- Incentive is only paid out upon completion of the project and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.
- Mandatory participation in case studies (various media formats).
- Mandatory data sharing — at least 24 months of energy and utility data pre-and post-renovation for Measure and Verification purposes.
How to qualify
- Register for the Durham Greener Homes Program.
- Book a free consultation with your Home Energy Coach.
- Your coach will inform you of available rebates, and help you decide if the deep retrofit rebate makes sense for your renovation plans.
- Fill out the Deep Retrofit Incentive Application Form provided by your energy coach.
- Upload the application form alongside energy evaluation documents and contractor quotes of planned upgrades to your user portal.
- Your Home Energy Coach will review your application, and if approved will send you a notice of pre-approval as a green light to go ahead with your retrofits.
- Complete your retrofits and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, submitting all documents and invoices of completed retrofits to your user portal.
- If all conditions to receive the rebate are met, you will receive a rebate cheque in the mail within 1-2 months.
