Energy Affordability Program

Income-eligible program

The Energy Affordability Program offers free energy-saving upgrades to income-eligible Ontario homeowners or renters that pay their own monthly electricity bills. There are two categories of support available to income-eligible households through the program — Comprehensive support and Energy saving kits.

Qualifying free upgrades will depend on eligibility and existing equipment in the house but can include the following:

Comprehensive support:

  • Energy-efficient refrigerator.
  • Window air conditioner.
  • ENERGY STARĀ® certified LED light bulbs.
  • Drying line for clothes.
  • Smart power strip.
  • High-efficiency showerheads (standard and handheld).
  • Faucet aerators (kitchen and bathroom).
  • Additional attic or basement insulation.
  • Weatherstripping around doors and windows.
  • Smart thermostat(s).
  • Cold climate air source heat pump.

Energy saving kits:

  • LED light bulbs.
  • Weather stripping.
  • Handheld showerhead.
  • Retractable clothesline.
  • Faucet aerators.
  • LED night light.
  • You may also receive a block heater timer if you use a block heater for your vehicle.
